Hi all,

As older m3904's are getting hard to find I need to know if it's possible to downgrade the new sets to firmware that will be more compatible with my 61c, release 24. I don't know if release 24 has the proper set of tools or if there is some other solution.

Thanks everyone.

The only way that I have heard of doing this is organising to download the firmware at an older software release - it would have to be 25.15 or 25.30 I believe. You would need access to another site that is running these releases though. Release 24.24 did not allow the option of downloading the firmware. I am assuming that the issue is that the soft keys are differently shown? which affects users? Hope this helps?

See thread798-1169748

Here is a copy of my post on that thread.

Folks, the M3904 message key testing has been completed on the 61C/rel 24 PBX.

Firmware download: Did not work. None of the published firmware download commands in both LD 32 and LD 97 worked. Release 24 NTP's do not list any firmware download type commands.

Message Key on M3904 sets: Worked as designed - but only on a phone with firmware prior to "context sensitive soft keys".

One Solution: If I remember correctly, context sensitive soft keys was introduced with release 25.30. Therefore, performing a firmware download to the telephones on a PBX running release 25.08, 25.10, or 25.15 and than moving those telephones over to the release 24 PBX should solve the message key problem. Should... but I have not tested this solution.

For reference, the working M3904 telephone had firmware version 029.

Telecomnorth, where are you from? How did you get that name?

Thanks for the replies everyone. This resource has been a great help to me.

Hasago, you are correct. The soft keys on the newer sets on non-functional. I guess my only option is to contact my supplier to see if they can perform the downgrade for me. Right now a software upgrade to the switch just isn't practical for me.
