I am trying to recreate a dot pattern with soft edge that fades off into white. It is representing grass on a golf course. The end result has to be a spot color in Illustrator. Anyone have any suggestions.

Could you be a tad more specific? Dots with a soft edge that fade into white? Or the entire pattern fades into white? Grass doesn't look like dots, does it? Do you have an example of something that resembles what you're after?
