Hello...

I have a laptop and PC both with Windows XP pro. I wanted to take an image of the laptop and keep it on my desktop. My laptop does not have a floppy, so I spent HOURS making a network boot CD. I finally got that to work. but when I boot with this network CD in my laptop I cannot map a drive to the desktop running Windows XP.

I log into to this lapto using a uername and psasword that I created on the desktop and I can ping the desktop from the laptop, but I can't browse the network nor map a drive to the desktop.

Any ideas? I must be missing something! What must I do to get a DOS network client to see the XP machine?

Why are you using a DOS network boot disk to copy data from the laptop to the desktop PC? Are you planning to somehow 'ghost' an image and copy it across?

A good place for boot CD's is PE Builder is an excellent free tool available for download and will give you a networkable Windows environment. You might to supply your network card drivers however.
