Just promoted a 2003 server to DC in our domain which currently has 2 Windows 2000 DC's. So far, so good but we have an old DOS based system which we had setup with Windows 2000 dos client setup disks and that has worked fine for years. Now, when that dos client goes to logon, it keeps asking for password but if I unplug the Windows 2003 DC from the network while it is signing on, it works fine but as long as that 2003 DC is connected, it won't logon. I found some articles which suggested the following which I have done but didn't seem to help.
---------------------------
In Domain Security option
MS Network Client : Digitally sign communication
Always = disabled
when possible = enabled
MS Network Server : Digitally sign communication
Always = disabled
when possible = enabled
Lan Manager Authentication level
Use NTLMv2 session security when negociated
-----------------------------
Is there anything else I can try? Do I need to create new DOS client setup disks under 2003 or will the 2000 still work? Also, worst case, since I still have a couple of 2000 DC's around, is there a way to force this one dos client to authenticate against one of them?
Thanks,
Joe
