does OE have an alert box for new email?

hey yall,
i am stuck using OE at home because my online classes are set up through newsgroups and Outlook will not work with newsgroup servers... i have always used either outlook or incredimail before i started back to school for my bachelor's degree, and what i am wondering is if OE has the ability to pop an alert window onto your screen when you have new email. right now all i get is the little envelope down in the system tray which i hardly ever notice... i have checked the option to notify me when new email arrives, so i am assuming that is all OE is set up to do is the little envelope... does anyone here know any secrets to getting an alert window, or is the little envelope the best i can hope for where OE is concerned?
