Does microsoft fax dial the destination telephone number?

Hi
I'm using a computer at a friend's house. I need to fax some documents from MSWord on this computer using the Microsoft Fax print option.
I've never used MSFax before today.
So I tried it just now before getting online; it seemed to work, but I didn't hear any dialing or beeping. Does MSFax really work that fast?

Try this:

1.) Make sure that you ARE NOT ONLINE to the Internet!
2.) Open Word, for example, then open the document yo uwant to fax.
3.) Choose "File", then "Print".
4.) Select the "Fax Printer".
5.) This should raise the MS Fax dialogue box that will ask questions like, "Do you want to use a cover page?", and of course: "What telephone number do you want to print to..." then, it should dial out, and show the progress of the fax.
6.) If it doesn't dail out, it ain't faxing either!
