I am using Crystal Reports with Oracle. In my report, I want to string two text fields together. When I open the Formula Editor, the two fields are not available to be selected. I can add them individually as database fields, but I cannot concatenate them in a formula. It appears that fields of over 250 will not show up in the formula editor. Is that correct?

In a previous report, I was able to include a database field of varchar2(1000). That leads me to believe that it is possible. I just don't remember how I did it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Fields with more than 254 characters are treated by SCR as "memo" fields. The only thing you can do with a memo field in a formula is check to see if it is null, which is really not that exciting.

You could truncate this field in a view or stored procedure, so that SCR is only getting the first ~250 characters, and then you could use this truncated field in the formula editor. Malcolm
