documenting the test phase

Does somebody have any experience in documenting the
test phase for B.O. reports? I'm involved in the ISO-9000
quality certification process and I have some troubles
in defining a reasonable check list or test steps list.
This because tests are very variable from one case to
another and rely on a great amount of implicit knowledge.
Do you think there is some stuff about this issue
in Internet?
