docmd.runsql("Insert...")

Is there a way to pick up the autonumber of a new record that i added by docmd.runsql ("Insert...") right after I add it without having to find the record?

Hi

I am not sure you can do it with docmd.runSQL, but if you use ado connection to execute the SQL, I believe you can use %indentity% to get the value, cannot recall the exact syntax and I do not have access to my collection of useful code snippits at present cos I am on a client site
