Do M3900 series phones require one or two pairs? 1

Hello,
I have a customer with a maxed out Nortel MICS, since the T7316 phones are Cross connected with one pair I need to know if the M3900 series phones require one or two pairs?

I am considering presenting an Nortel CS 1000S upgrade.
Too bad the T7316 phones don't work with it.

One pair makes the phone work. Any other pairs would be for powering extra modules and are generally local to the phone
