Hi there,

Im really no expert on this at all, but am quite desperate for some help.

I have a domain registered with xreg.co.uk, and they allow you to modify your DNS Zone files. Basically I want to point my domain to a directory on my webserver. So that actually works, because all I have at the moment is frame forwarding and that means relative links within my site displays my webserver IP address and not the domain name. Also frame forwarding means direct links like do not work.

I hope this makes sense, but I would be very greatfull for any help

Thanks

Jon

I run my own webserver using apache, and I have two different domains pointing to two different directories on my server.

The problem is that for example <A href="test.php"> when clicked on in the browser takes the user directly to my webserver rather than going through the domain. So in the address bar instead of seeing it is 81.164.177.5/test.php

I hope this makes it clearer what the problem is,

Thanks in advance

You said "when clicked on in the browser takes the user directly to my webserver". What page did the user access in order to have a link to test.php in the first place?

I just mean the test.php is a link in the html content that is served. So the default page is index.php and then on that page there are links to the rest of the site. If any links are clicked on by the user, when that page loads; the address bar shows the ip address of my webserver and not the domain name they came from.

ok, I've tried adding in <VirtualHost> into my apache httpd file. Although it seems no matter which domain I go to its always the first defined <VirtualHost> that is used. I dont really understand this, as it should match to the correct ServerName. Any ideas?

I've realised why that was happening. Its because frame forwarding is still switched on, so the ServerName cannot be resolved correctly by apache. This means I still need to modify the DNS zone files for the domain.

It is currently setup as follows:

lawforumuk.co.uk. NS ns1.xreg.co.uk.
lawforumuk.co.uk. NS ns2.xreg.co.uk.
lawforumuk.co.uk. MX xreg.co.uk. [10]
lawforumuk.co.uk. A 216.127.78.77
CNAME lawforumuk.co.uk.
mail.lawforumuk.co.uk. CNAME lawforumuk.co.uk.

So basically I need to add/change something to this so that it points to my webservers IP address.

Id be very greatfull for any help you could give me

Many thanks

Jon
