We just moved our racks upstairs, containing our windows 2000 server domain controllers. All is moved and we have just plugged them in. Our DNS server is displaying a yellow exclamaition mark and is not functining, and there are no errors in event viewer. I have run the internal lookup tests within DNS which both fail. ANy ideas to what has happened - or an explanaition for the yellow exclamation mark.

Thanks,

What's your IPCONFIG /ALL look like?

Is your server verifiably on the network?

When you look at your list of services, is the DNS SERVER service started? If not, are there any other services that were supposed to start but didn't? You may have a problem further down the dependency chain.

Can you check on the DNS folder and make sure it still exists? Are your zones AD-integrated?

Are you checking the DNS event log as well as the System event log? It's hard to believe there's nothing being logged. Maybe you checked them before a process had actually timed out and generated an error.

We just need more information.
