Ok, here is what is happening. Our dhcp server appears to be working fine. At first boot of a PC it gets an IP address and can get online and everything is fine. Then at random some computers lose the DNS that was assigned (192.168.0.12) by the dhcp and is replaced with this DNS address 172.16.10.1
I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not but better to give full details. We have two servers acting as DNS servers. One of the servers had a name conflict with a printer taking the servers name. That issue has been resolved and both servers are functioning again.
The other thing that happened around the same time was that I downloaded the Microsoft Exchange 2007 evaluation package and put it on our virtual server. DHCP is not installed on it and the DHCP function is not enabled on the virtual server network card.
The quick fixes that have worked for me. I can repair the network connection and the computer will function again for a random amount of time. I can also hardcore the dns and it works great but defeats the purpose of dhcp and peopole cant use their laptops on the road like that.
Thats all the info that I have, if there are any questions please let me know nad if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
