Hi -
Built up Win2k Adv Server on an HP LPR. Applied SP3 and then went to set up DNS so I could then run AD on it. DNS installed fine, but won't run. I've done this all before and never seen this problem. The error is:
Event ID: 7003
The DNS service depends on the following noexistent service: NTLmSsp

anyone see this before?

check your services for NTLM Security Support Provider. If it's not started, try to start it manually. If it's not there at all, we have more to talk about...

Hey - thx!
You got it.. I don't have it at all..
s/b betw Network DDE DSDM and Performance Logs and alerts
I recon.. I see it on my other servers..
Am googling to see if I can do a "stand alone" install of it.. looks bleak so far.
Should I just wipe this thing and start over?

that's tough. i don't think giving you the registry settings is going to solve your problem. it should install by default on any server...maybe try running a repair instead of blowing away the whole thing?

I wonder if SP3 had anything to do with it...?

Am going to try a repair right now.. good thinking -thanks!
