Greetings,

I am an IT professional so this is killing me. At home I have a cable modem (Road Runner)with a router. I use DHCP. I have one DC. I ran DCPROMO but (problem one) Active Directory does not show in Programs, yet if I go to run DCPROMO again my server is indeed a DC and it says that AD is running. All clients and the server use DHCP and all systems can hit the Internet and hit (ping, share folders) one another. The problem (problem two)is that, from a client, if I go to MANAGE, USERS & local users and groups, and try to add a user from the domain as a local user, the domain is greyed out and only the system itself is there.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

salvatore11,

Perhaps your Active Directory promotion failed at some point. I would try demoting the Domain Controller, (dcpromo) back to a member server and then re-promoting it.
