Hi all,
I am trying to enhance my DNs structure, but I am encountering poblems and I don't know how to fix them;
in few words this is the situation
the DNS namespace is: MYDOMAIN.LAN (which is the same as the one of Active Directory)
Lookup Forward zone: MYDOMAIN.LAN

The Desktop Clients (all W2K Professional) are joined to the MYDOMAIN.LAN as a result their primary DNS Suffix is "MYDOMAIN.LAN";
in order to better support the above Dns zone, I decided to add a new DNS subdomain named "ACCOUNT" so that it turns out the following new DNS structure:

.(Root)
|
|
+ Mydomain.lan <----- (Primary Zone)
|
|
|-Account <----- (The New Domain)

For those computers located at the Accounting dept. (several in the next future) I added the following string in the "Dns suffix for this connection" (I also activated the flag for "Use this connections'DNS suffix in DNS registration"): ACCOUNT.MYDOMAIN.LAN

But on checking the DNS server I found out the the A record of the client computer is either recorded in the "Account.mydomain.lan" subdomain and in the "Mydomain.lan" zone; I was wondering whether is possible to have computer register its A record ONLY on "Account.mydomain.lan" and the action to be taken to accomplish it.
I hope I made the situation clear, any clarification just let me know
Thanks in advance
Leonardo

Have you tried a hosts file on the account.mydomain.lan? Just a thought. (Give the laziest man the hardest job, and he'll find the easiest way to do it.)
