I got DNS working in my network, the clients recieve their DNS from the DC and the DC has forwarders set to the Routers DNS and the DC points to itself for DNS resolution.

My question is, why when I do an "nslookup" on the server OR the client I get a "Default Server: Unknown".

It is able to resolve the IP (which is the IP to the DC) and everything works fine, just wondered why that was?

Thanks!

Have you created a PTR record for you DNS server?

I did in my forward lookup zone, but not my reverse... how do I create one in the reverse?

I createda pointer record in reverse, but there is no place to input an IP? It is a might confusing to say the least?

Thanks

I did that, and I DO have a reverse lookup zone... that part is not an issue. I belive what he was saying was to create a pointer record in your newly created reverse lookup zone?

That is what I was wondering how to do since when I try to create it it does not give me a place to enter an IP?

Thanks
Chance~
