DNS on different subnets

Hello,
I have a remote office with a VPN connection to our office.
The remote office is a workgroup on 10.10.0.0 and this office is a domain on 10.10.1.0
The remote office workgroup name is the same as our domain. I have the remote office clients pointing to our internal DNS server. I can ping across both subnets.
When browsing, I cannot see anything in the workgroup, and they cannot see anything here. I can search for the computers, edit the host file and find them.
When I try to join the remote computers to the domainm it says "Domain cannot be contacted"
What is the best way to get the remote office into our domain? This is W2K server and W2K clients.

Are all the workstations win2000 pro!! If they are not then you need to have wins running for netbios name resolution to browse in different subnets.

Here's what I would do, place at least one DC and dns at each site (performance,logon.....). on the computer that you will be making a domain controller make sure that in your Tcp/Ip properties you have entered the dns server thet is authoritive for your domain. On the DC in the main office creat (is sites and services) creat a site and subnet for your branch office. First on the computer in your branch office that will be the dc, during dcpromo join this computer as a additonal domain controller for an existing domain (don't forget about dns settings above because it must locate dns). Once this computer is a DC In that site for your domain configure it as a dns server. You should have an active directory integrated zone on your dns server in the main office that you will also use for your dns in the branch office. When you configure your dns in the branch office do not creat any additonal zones. Once this is done, on all computers in the branch office (including the dc), configure the dns server in there site as the primary dns server and the secondary dns server as the server in the other site. With this done you can join your wrkstns to the domain (though you can still join them without a DC in the sit it is best to have one). Also in the help section read up on FSMO roles.
