We have a client who has a small network and windows 2000 Server. Their local domain name is the same as their web address without the
We set up a forwarder in DNS for the "www" aspect which was all working well for a while. It then stopped working and the only temporary solution available was to set the users to use the Win 2k server IP address as the primary DNS and their ISP's primary DNS as their secondary DNS. This worked a treat (bearing in mind it was a temporary solution).
However, someone has now told the client that anyone who prints to a shared printer on the network, is now sending all of their documents out across the net. I find this quite hard to get my head around seing as the printer is shared through a user on the network within a private IP range (192.168.blah.blah).
Has anyone ever seen or heard of documents going external like this before? or can anyone clarify if this is a possibility.
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
