hi,
i am a newbie and i have a question about DNS. we have our remedy client installed on pc's in different location and the problem is some of our pc can that have the remedy client can connect, and the others in the other location cannot connect,This is a firewall issue which we dont have access to. so we use remote desktop connection from this pc to a pc that's not in this building that the client will connect, i then use the remote deskop connection and use the client on that pc. is there a way i can configure DNS on this pc to redirect to that machine so my remedy client can connect?. i am trying to do this so multiple people from this building can connect.

First, does Remedy (I have no idea what sort of program this is, by the way) connect to something outside your office, or does it connect to a server in another branch/location of your company?

Second, firewalls don't usually affect DNS queries, so if the Remedy server is outside of your company network, using a different DNS server is unlikely to change the way your local Remedy client works.

The solution to this problem, building some sort of port proxy to bypass the firewall, is going to be way beyond your (and probably my) ability to set up. If I were you, I'd call Remedy support and find out what ports would be required to access something beyond a firewall using their application (and what IP addresses you'd be connecting to), and then I would make a request to the firewall managers to provide that access to you.
