I get an error reguarding DNS when attempt to add another DC to a Windows 2000 Network. The error is:
"The Domain "Domain.com" could not be contacted. Select a different domain. (If this somain was recently created, its name may not yet be registered with the Domain Naming Service).

Any Ideas? I just upgraded an NT4 PDC to W2K. I setup AD and DNS. I am now attemtping to add another DC to the mix. James Collins

It is checked. Tis is the first time I have had this issue. Could it be due to the fact that I upgraded the PDC to Win2K? AD is set up and working. The second Server joined the domain fine. It just wont let me promote it to a DC. James Collins

I got it.
I feel stupid. I have done this several times before without running into issues. It is farily straight forward and easy to do. However you will have issues EVERY time if you forget to put that darn DNS entry in TCP/IP on the system you are trying to upgrade. I looked at it several times and completely missed it. DOH!!!!!

Thanks for your assistance Vince. James Collins
