Hello,

I have a small company that gets DSL services from SBC. SBC provided us with a DNS ip address that looks like this 206.123.23.34

I have set up our Windows 2000 Server as a DNS server that has a private ip address that starts with 192....

Here's my problem:

When I set the properties for TCP/IP to use the DNS provided by SBC I'm able to get on to the Internet, but I'm having problems browsing the local network shares, and when I set the properties to use the private DNS I can't get on the interned.

I've already tried setting the tcp/ip properties to use an alternate DNS but it still does not work.

Do I need to set up another DNS zone, and if I do, how do I do that?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Take care.

Rene
