Hello. I have a W2K PDC that is running the DHCP and DNS services. My problem is that when a client obtains an IP Address from the DHCP, nothing happens in the DNS. In other words, no forward or reverse lookup zone is added in the DNS tables.

On the DNS tab of the DHCP Server Properties, I have selected the “Automatically update DHCP client information in DNS” option, with the sub-option “Always update DNS” selected. I have additionally selected “Discard forward (name-to-address) lookups when lease expires” under the same tab.

I am not sure what the problem is. Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks,

The entries would go into the Forward Lookup Zone that is named the same as your domain.

wbg34,

Yes, I too am of the ipression that the entries should go into the Forward Lookup Zone. The problem is that the entries aren't being made for some of the clients. Is there something that would prevent this from happening? The working and non-working clients are all running W2K Professional...

Also, is there a way to create a record for the Reverse Lookup Zone while using DHCP?

Thanks again,
