I have 4 Microsoft DNS servers set up inside the firewall. 2 are used for the clients inside the network, which are using private addressing. The other 2 are used for registering the public IP addresses of machines that are located inside the firewall, but have NAT translations for access from outside, such as webservers, etc...
My question is, one of the public DNS servers has a private IP address (the other one hasn't been moved to private address yet). The one public server, which has a private IP address, keeps reregistering itself as the private IP address, then distrubuting itself through out the world. This server is also used for some other things, so when the private IP gets pushed out, no one can access it.
Is there a way to turn off the dynamic registration of itself? I've unchecked the box that says "register this connections address in DNS", but that doesn't help. The server thinks it needs to keep updating itself for Active Directory.
Thanks
