I went into the DNS through IP management today, and saw a lot of records which no longer exist. Here is the problem.
We create a new computer with ghost. It automatically joins the domain with a dynamically generated computer name. We then log into the PC, and change the name to it's true workstation name.
In DNS, I have records for both computer names, and it never goes away. The reverse lookup zones have a bunch of entries on the same ip address for different computer names. Probably because DHCP gave it up, and it added another lease and updated DNS.
DHCP Lease is set for 3 days, and there is scavenging on the AD Integraded DNS Zone, and the server set for 3 days. What do I need to do to have the server clean up after itself? To remove stale DNS Entries and the RR record, and update the DNS record on a computer name change?
Thanks,
