I had 2000 server ad running and working without any problems. l added a child domain and started getting errors in the directory service folder on both machines.

when i run dcdiag i recieve dns errors refering to kccevent

the thing is i can ping both machines and access both as well.

not sure what happened, anyone seen this before

how are the dns servers setup?

what is the parent & child dns/AD domain namespace?
can both machines see each other? is dynamic DNS enabled on the dns?

We shall prevail, and they shall not

the errors in kccevent in dcdiag could be erroneous....

check repadmin /showreps (may be /showrepl) and ensure there are no failures for inbound replication (this tests AD replication only though and is not valid for FRS really)

kccevent erors could indicate anything from there being a problem with the KCC enumerating site/subnet info to tie them together...could indicate lack of connectivity in total with remote DC...could be any number fo things...

get the actual event from teh Directory Service log and give me an event ID, source, and last time the problem occurred and I'll get ya some more on it
