I've 2 win2k Servers and all of my client pc are win2k pro and XP; however, some of my clients are connecting through cisco router. Do I need to use WINS for this to work or can I just use DNS?
I would recommend installing WINS if you plan on using Exchange or MS SQL Server. These applications tend to use RPC as their primary data transfer protocol. Since RPC is a NetBIOS related protocol, the primary name resolution method preferred by the WS will be WINS.

Yes. Typically I install both DNS and WINS on my DC's unless I have special load requirements.
