DNS/Active Directory Questions

we currently run a NT4.0 PDC with the logon domain being <localdomain>.

Our company was purchased a while back and we now run a local DNS server on our DMZ with the domain name of <city.corporatedomain.com>.
I need to promote a Win2k member server to be the PDC.
When I upgrade the Nt4.0 PDC to win2k I understand that the domainname in the AD configuration is <localdomain.com>. Will I need to do anything else with the DNS configuration of the Win2k server?

What kind of DNS server are you using?

Not sure what type of DNS it is. I just know its on a Linux box and is managed by someone else.
