greetings phone guru's.
Customer has a MICS, (sorry not sure the software version) and a NAM. Lets say ext 222 is on DND, and the receptionist transfers a call to them, it will flash on ext. 222 the right amount of times before going to voicemail, BUT, it also rings right back to reception saying 222 DO NOT DISTURB in the process. I'm pretty confident that's not how it is usually. Shouldn't it just flash on ext 222 (that's on DND) and then go to it's voicemail ? Any way to STOP IT from ringing at reception simultaneously ?

Make sure there is no Answer DN key at reception for 222??
Make sure FNA is set to the right ring count.
Test the transfer when not in a DND mode.

OK, I guess I should be awake by now. My brain must have cooked a little from the heat today. Thanks for catching me.

Per curlycord's suggestion, when not in DND, does the call go to vm?

When not in DND, the call rings on the phone 4 times, then goes to it's voicemail box. While on DND, the reception phone rings saying 222 DO NOT DISTURB and the call flashes on the extention, then eventually (after the 4 rings) does go to the persons voicemail. the problem here is the ringing at reception.

I'm on the verge of just programming people's DND buttons as Feature 984 instead ... but i'd love to know why it's doing this.

Also, make sure that your transfer callback timer is set higher than the fwd to vm timer.

Yes that has also been checked .. the transfer callback is as high as it goes, and I disabled DRT TO PRIME just for testing purposes in case .. still no help .. can't help but wonder if it's some sort of software glitch.

I just checked with our supplier, the system I installed has 5.o software. Any known glitches that may cause this ??

Just to test it, change the Prime Set of the line being transfered to NONE and see what happens. I got the Paraghraph below from the 5.0 manual.

"When DND on Busy is turned on for the set, internal and
private network callers hear a busy tone instead of ringing
when you are on the telephone. External callers are transferred to the prime set used in your system. For step-by-step instructions, see Making Changes to Do Not Disturb on Busy on page 37."

From the 5.0 System Cord page 96.

Hawks, I bet that will work. (Although DND on busy is NOT turned on) I will do that Monday, and give you your star props then ... thanks ..

If anyone else has suggestions in the meantime, still, let me know ..

Ok I tried it in the lab and it did not make a difference the call rang back to whichever phone I transfered from. I even made the Prime set for that line a different set still the same thing. So it looks like we'll have to try something else.

Wow thanks for doing that Hawks and saving me a trip just for that. Can you confirm for me that i'm not crazy and it doesn't do this with other software versions ?? I've seen DND make it flash x amount of times then FNA to voicemail, and i've seen DND just make it go straight to voicemail without the flashing, but never this ringback at the phone it was transfered from ... is it just 5.0 ?
