Has any one tried swapping DN ports "Remotely" through a RAD? I need to activate a new DN that doesn't exist yet and and install it in the location of a phone already working. I seen a feature in Maintance (remotely) called Dn to Port conversion but, not sure if that's what I need.

Are you talking about simply changing the DN of the existing phone? If so, you should be able to change it through the RAD.

No.. I want to basically do a set relocate remotely. It would be easest to send a body out to do a xconnect and swap the phones. But there's no fun in that.

Dial in with R.A.D., go to Sysytem Programming/Feature Settings and change Set relocation to YES, have customer simply move set/s when ready, programming will follow the set.

Cheers

Curlycord, It would be that simple if the other phone was already setup and working but it's doesn't physically exist yet. I've decided to set someone out instead of me wasting anymore time trying to figure out if the system is capable of doing this. Which I think is but, I have other issues to dwell on. Thanks for everyones input.

One last stab
Perhaps I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish, maybe just a new user at an existing phone?
In that case just System Porgram/Change DN and change the DN of the existing set to the DN of the one without the set but you need to be more specific as what you are trying to accomplish. What ever it is it can be done remotely.

Ok. Let see if I can explain this properly.

I have an existing phone (1505) sitting on a desk that is remote call fowarded for an employee that floats around. But the main thing is (1505) has to remain active. I was informed that new employee is being hired and will be located at the desk of (1505) and will require a new number. This new number (1529) will need to xconnected and configured because it doesn't exist yet.

So I was considering doing is swapping the DN Ports which you can find in Maintance and possible eliminating anyone needing to pay a physical site visit. THe DN Port Conversion I was speaking of is a feature I found in the Maintance section of programming. But I'm not completely sure if it does just as it says.

But I have guy going out to just create the new phone and swing the xconnect.

But I'm really curious to find out what that DN Port Conversion really does...

Configuration/System Porgram/Change DN/
Press Change
Enter Old DN 1505
Enter New DN 1529
Rls out of Programming and go back in and Program 1529 to your liking.

1505 (the floater)is now on the port where 1506 used to be,have tech label the port (go to maintenance to find out Config/Main/Port DN Status)as 1506 DO NOT USE
Or have him cross connect it to an available jack.

So you know it is possible to chack any vmail from any phone.
Also if no phone required the use * as the Ext number in Voice Mail Programming.
