I have a virtual SMTP server in my DMZ that I am would like to use as a relay to my Exchange server on my internal network. I have configured the proper outbound packet filters for SMTP from the DMZ and tested it successfully to external email addresses ie. john@hotmail.com. However, when I attempt to send email to my internal network ie. john@mydomain.com - it fails. From a separate network entirely, I can run the same test successfully so the problem isn't with my internal mail server. I wonder if I need to create a separate filter to specifically allow traffic from my DMZ to my internal network. If that is the case, what would that filter look like? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
