Although everything works normally, after installing the drivers for a logitech mouse, I have to close an error box by clicking 'OK' before the desktop to appear. Small hassle and no big deal, but I'd like to learn what this means and how to fix it if someone can assist.

It reads: The EVENTEX.DLL file is linked to missing export COMNCTR.DLL:?SetValueData@CRegEnry@@QAEJABVCString@@ABV2@@Z.

? Am I suppossed to set this value? I'm not experienced with setting values in the registry etc.,(if this is what this box is telling me). I know 'about' the registry and how to get into it with regedit, but that's about it.

as always, thx for your time.

Don't know what the error means, but many times I've had problems with Logitech conflicts. The easiest thing is to remove the Logitech drivers and use the native Windows mouse drivers. I've even had to go into safe mode (because of system lock-ups), to remove the driver. Unless this is a USB mouse, the Logitech drivers aren't needed.

thx for the reply. I had to install the logitech drivers because the mouse didn't have any scroll wheel function using the native Win drivers. I never had any problems with all the other 'mice' I've used and moved from puter to puter, so I agree with your point that logitech ones (my first), are temperMENTAL

Hopefully someone can answer my other question about what the error means and how to resolve it, or I'll just have to put up with it as I've been doing for a few months, or try to contact Logitech.

To correct my earlier post, the error message is displayed on top of the desktop, not before it displays, but it must be closed before I can do anything.
