DivX in Premiere

I have been trying to import a DivX movie into premiere without any success.
It plays in Windows Media, at first there was no audio till I installed the AC3 Audio codec.
When I try to import into premiere I receive the error message: Unsupported Compression Format.
I have the full DivX package installed.
I am using Windows XP Pro and Premiere 6.5.
I would appreciate any ideas on this.
