I know this is called a VLAN but I want to know if someone can help me do it. Basically I want to take a Cisco 3550-48 and split it into two parts. Each part used as a seperate network and they can't talk to each other at all or see each other etc... How do I do this? create a VLAN2 and assign vlan2 to the ports for the second network? If so how?

Thanks for the help

Determine your vlan numbers . Get into config mode and just type the following as an example , vlans can be any number.

vlan 5, hit enter

vlan 6 , hit enter

Verify vlans were created with the "show vlan" command . Then you must assign your ports to the vlans you want them in .
