Does anyone know how to adjust the size restriction on a Distribution List that's been done as a group? When someone tries to send a message to a particular distribution list they received the following message:

"The e-mail system limits the number of recipients that can be addressed in a single message. Send the message multiple times to fewer recipients."

I probably have about 50 or 60 users in the group.

Thanx

Exchange System Manager - Global Settings - Message Delivery, right click - properties - Defaults.
The bottom one is the limit. Increase the number if needed.

Marc,

Thanks for the feedback, that worked like a champ.

Also note (for other people that have the same issue as I did) that if you have a custom number in there and then go up to Exchange 2003, frequently you will see that this is an issue.
Meaning that it will ignore whatever number is in there and instead go with the low default (but the larger number will be there and be checked, it is just not paying attention to it).

You can click it to the default, click apply (apparently that resets it or something) and then click your custom number again and make that active (or just put in the largest number it will allow if you are so inclined).

The knowledge base lists that as a known issue in Exchange if you are migrating from 2k to 2k3 and had that custom value set.

In Addition...

instead of adding peoples names to the accept from list, create (in AD) a group called distributionlistname_senders then put the peoples names in that. now assign that group to the accept list.
example DL=Universal, Groupname=Universal Senders

Sounds strange, but with an organisation of 700+ users we use groups for everything, Folders/Shares, DLs, iNet access etc. It's heaps easier to maintain when people come and go. Rights are given to groups and people put in the groups. That way the maintenance is done just at the AD group level, not on individual DLs or folders/shares. Takes a while to set up short term but long term it's easier.

regards,
RD
