Is there a way in 5.5 to allow only certain users the right to send via a distribution list? We have some employees using our ALL USERS list for sketchy reasons. We would like to limit permission to that list to managers and execs.

I am pretty certain at this point that 5.5 doesn't have this feature. Does Exchange 2000? Or is there a workaround for this within 5.5?

create a DL that contains all the users you'd like to have access and place that group in the "Accept Messages from" field under the Delivery Restrictions tab on the "AllUsers" distribution list...

Hi Hanson,

You'll be pleased to know you can do this in 5.5 quite easily. In Exchange Administrator, double click on the Distribution list in question and choose delivery restrictions. In the 'accept messages from' box, choose list, and then click on modify. If you then put in the people you wish to be able to send to the dist. list, Exchange will reject messages from anyone else and give them an error message if they try to do so.

Once you've put the permissions in place, it can take a fair few minutes for Exchange to implement it, but it does get there in the end :)
