I am running win 98, and my display settings allow for optioons of 16 color, 256 color, 16 bit.could only start up to the win98 cloud page. i went into safemode, dos prompt, unistall windows, install windows. Now it loads windows 98 but it still the old one and all my info except some drivers is still there and under device manager I get an exclamation point under sound, video controller ES1868 controller interface(WDM). I've updated drivers for this item and even removed it. I've also tried to update drivers for diamond 2mb card but says I have the best. What to do?

does somebody knows how to see or reset the excel password is tipical that end users forgot their passwords. In an old book "tips & tricks" mentioned how, but in recent versions does not works.

do this - Click on start -settings - control panel - system -device manager
Click on properties .
This will display the interrupt settings -check that the sound card and video card are on different interrupts and IO.
Turn off p.c - Pull out the sound card (use anti static precautions )
Turn on P.C - check in device manager that sound card is not there . If it is remove from devicer manager
Restart P.C
Check video card is happy in device manager
turn off P.C
re-install the sound card hardware . (use anti static precautions )
turn on P.C
Windows should detect the sound card and select an interrupt that is free
if this doesn't work remove video hard in device manager and then restart P.C
windows should detect video card and assign an interrupt that is free

Wow, It worked! I removed display device, restarted computer.
