Display Task without duration

Other considerations:
First, there is a note field available for the task ID you desire. Second, you can create a custom text field and display it adjacent to the task name. Third, you could create a milestone task subordinate to the main task (where you want the subtitle) which could have dates but no duration.

Thank you for the suggestions. Could you be more specific? I've attempted to create a custom text field and adjust the "notes" settings, but the duration and startdate cells still hold date values. If I change the font properties so all text is white I get the results I am looking for - a blank field, however, it seems there should be an easier way. Thanks.
Project is a tool to help you manage the tasks in a project. By definition, tasks have start dates (calculated from the finish dates and lags of predecessors or the project start) and finish dates (calculated from the Work=Units*Duration equation).
You want a tool that helps you make pretty pictures.

As the maestro PDQBach has stated, there is no way to create a subtitle (interpreted as a subtask in Project) without some sort of date. This is because MS Project is a scheduling tool.
There may be some shareware/freeware products which will allow you to do what you want, but I can't help you in that area. Perhaps even Excel.
Creating a text field and displaying it to the right of the task description is probably your best option. MS Project will not allow that text field to be displayed below its associated task, however. To create a new field, right click on the task (or duration or start date) column heading and choose insert column. Pick any of Text1 to Text30 as the Field name.

A scheduling tool? I had no idea. Try to use your imagination here, but a phased project including multiple buildings may have many subtasks including dates, while the building (taskID) would not.
