Display Problems with a FX5900

Hello

New computer: ASUS P4S800 mainboard, Nvidia FX5900 256Mb.

Installed GTA Vice City, restarted, icons had disappeared, downloaded patch from their website, icons are back.

Installed Conflict Desert Storm 2, restarted icons have disappeared (no patch available). If i turn off Direct 3D and Direct Draw from DxDiag, then they all come back -but no games work. If i turn Direct 3D and Direct Draw On, games work but no icons (requires restart to loose some icons).

If i test Direct 3D and Direct Draw inder DxDiag, both work fine. I am using latest drivers from Nvidia.

Any Ideas??

My first thought; whenever something totally unexplainable happens like that, give a good virus scanning a shot.

Also, did you try different drivers?

And, do you have the latest DirectX loaded?
