We are in the process of creating a document repository for some of our staff. Not the most computer savvy staff either.

We have taught them how to use the CF interface to upload files to the server through the browser (.DOC,.PDF,.XLS,etc)

But now we are having problems that when they search many of them can't quite grasp the concept of either tell the browser to open the file using the default application or save it to the PC and THEN open it.

Is there a tag, utility, or anything that anyone knows of that will cause a .DOC or .XLS, etc to open directly in the browser, rather than having to tell the system to open it with the default app or save it, etc?

Thanks in advance!

if you have the application associated with the browser it should open in the browser automatically. the acrobat browser plugin especialy. word and excel are usualy tied to IE and should open in the browser anyway. how are they accessing the files to open? hyperlink in the browser?

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
