Hello All,

Well one of my associates tried to mirror the root disk with disksuite and *ucked up. He told me he was a little rusty with disksuite so could I "jog" his memory on how it was done.....no problem I says..do:

* create the meta DB's...preferably on some spare slice(s)
* create the concat meta devices for the root disk and target mirror and link the former with the new mirror
* issue metaroot and finally attach the new mirror to the target mirror.

...just to make sure he got it all right I sends him a detailed doc with full intructions

..shit then it goes pear shaped because he didn't reboot b4 the attach. He then reboots and the system is hung with no error messages or anything. Well I feel kind of responsible for forgetting to tell him to reboot b4 the attach but I was only trying to jog his memory ....I didn't expect for a moment that he would do as I say line for line without consulting the doc.

Anyhow, to get back out of this shit I tell him to try and boot from the cd and disable disksuite and put things back to physical disk but the system still hangs and I've been and had a go myself but to no avail....I don't know if he did anymore than I told him to do initially but I suspect he's in the job and tried to bluff his was thru this by getting my help.

well this looks bad on me and any help would be deeply appreciated: suggestions please!

I've already mounted the root disk and replaced the /etc/vfstab, /etc/system ..moved mddb.cf out the way, reset the boot block, etc etc

but it still hangs!

Are you able to dmesg and post a little more information if possible?
