Since setting up a linux firewall (IPCop) between two segments of our network, we've been experiencing the symptoms descibed in this FAQ

The users are on the protected side of the firewall, with the databases on the other side. The solution in the FAQ was to move the database onto the user's side of the firewall. Does anyone have any other suggestions, as moving the databse is not feasible in this case? Thanks.

in the connection settings you can configure them to use a specific port...

easiest way is probably to set the system dsn's on your clients machine to use a specific port, however if you are using connection strings, then you'll have to modify your string to include the port, check for the specific syntax for whatever connection string type you use...

then just open up those ports in the firewall...
