Disk or network error message

We have an Access 97 database on a Windows network. Occasionally someone will get a "Disk or network error" message box and it not allow you to close that copy of the database. You are able to open another copy of it.

Does anyone know what this message means, or what causes it?

I believe this is a network problem. I ran into this message several times when the network was down. And I could not close the database.

However, I was surprised that you were able to open another copy of the database. Maybe it is because the network was unstable sometime.
