Hi all,
I need to disinstall my Windows 2000 Adv. server from my hard disk, but I don't know any command to do that.

Any suggestions
Thanks a lot in advance.

Try booting from a floppy and running "Fdisk"

Don't forget- "FDISK" will completely wipe the drive

If this is a domain controller, make sure you run dcpromo if it's replicating with other dc's. Glen A. Johnson

Before you go fdisk'in follw GlenJohnson's advice. Then if this is the only Operating System on your computer proceed with the fdisk. Once you are done fdisk'in you will probably want to format unless you plan on putting XP on the drive. If there is another OS, on another partition, just use the format command on the partition that contains 2k. After this you may need to use fdisk /mbr to get your master boot record back. The first option will clear the entire hd, the second will remove 2k server if there is another OS on the harddrive.

Hi,
thanks for your help. My Pc's consists of 2 HDD's:

in the first is installed Windows 2000 XP home edition (driver C:)

the second is splitted in 2 different basic partitions (D: and E:) in which are both installed W2k adv server (it's an enviromental test so that's why I want to disinstall one of them to recover free space);
So if I decide to disinstall the W2k adv. server from partion E (which is also the partition boot) by fdsk do I jeopardize deleting what partition D: contains too?

Thanks Again for your support

I would simply format the test server partition, either in the other 2 os's or at the command prompt. Then use windows or another third party software to join the freespace onto the xp or 2k installs. You can also leave it as a seperate if you want to. I would not suggest using fdisk if there is data/info you want saved on another partition of the same hard-disk. Within XP just format the drive. You may need to customize your boot-loader so that the second install of 2k server does not show up on the menu. Reply for more help on modding the boot-loader.
