disabling windows update

What are the symptoms?
Have you started an update and not finished it - try looking in your startup folder for any remnants of a previous attempt.
Or, if you're getting that internet explorer thing popping up, try allowing it to continue, and you should get an option to abandon the update.

I just saw that feature last night either in the Windows 2000 resource book or on the ms windows support website.. If I find it again, I'll let you know...But I do know it's out there...
