Disabling voicemail for a user 3

How do I disable voicemail for a user? We have a cordless phone that should not ever recieve a voicemail. I tried deleting the users voicemail folder, unchecking the voicemail on box for the user in IP Office Manager and restarting the voicemail service. But if I dial # followed by the extension I am still able to leave a voice message. Do I need to create a short code like #145 and re-direct it to a do-nothing function?

In VM Pro create a leave action for that user and connect a hangup action to the start point.
 
tlpeter, I think you replied before I submitted the question, WOW!
 
Would creating a leave action like this cause the phone to hang up on the caller when normally it would go to their voicemail? I would prefer that it just keep ringing without end.
 
Then do a transfer action to the users phone.
 
Why not against the user voicemail settings in the IP Office configuration deselect 'Voicemail On'. That stops the IP Office from diverting unanswered calls to voicemail.

The other fixes (customizing mailbox actions) are only required if you have people getting to the mailbox via routes other than ringing the extension.

Correct. You're just disabling the switches use of the mailbox. It doesn't affect other callflows and shortcodes that go direct to the mailbox.

If the system is running in Intuity mode then you can also disable the mailbox through the Intuity interface (press 5 and then 7).
 
I do not work very often with intuity mode to be honest :-)

Our system was installed using the intuity interface. The 5 and then 7 option works great! Now no matter how they get to the extension's voicemail they get a message that they cannot leave a message. This is better than getting it to somehow ring endlessly. THANKS!
