disabling sleep mode

Has anybody got any suggestion for disabling sleep mode in 7.2. This problem occurs when running monitor calibrations. I would be grateful for any relevant info, as even with screen saver disabled pm is blacking the screen after a length of time.

Initial resloution was to use kde | cntl panel | look feel | screen saver, programs | settings | desktop, inaddition to disabling the bios pm, the porblem still persists

turn off 'apmd' in the system. I presume you are using RedHat 7.2... you need to be more clear about which linux distribution.

for any RedHat

"chkconfig --level 35 apmd off"
"killall apmd"

You're good to go.
