Hi

Whenever w2k3 server is shutdown or restarted a form is displayed that asks for the reason for the restart and the OK button is disabled until something is typed in the Comment box.

Does anyone know how to stop this dialog from appearing and just allow a 'normal' shutdown or restart, as with previous version? I'm looking for a Windows config option or registry key, rather than a utlity program that would enter something and click OK automatically.

Thanks

You can do this using Group policies....
The thing you are looking for is :
Disable shut-down tracker...
it is somewhere in the computer part... but don't know exactly where...

Thanks for that petje, I found it under Local Computer Policy, Administrative Templates, System. The key is called Display Shutdown Event Tracker. It defaults to Not Configured, change it to Disabled and the problem goes away.

Thanks again for your help.
