I have admin assistants who have shared line appearances of directors. Actually, I have many shared line appearances in my CM system. We only recently converted VMail for this system from Avaya Modular Messaging to Unity , and that is when this particular problem began. My problem is that message waiting indicates they have a message, which they DO NOT, it is a message for their director. They press the messages button and CM dials into Unity server on the line which HAS a message. In this case a shared line (the directors), and they eventually lock the director out of voicemail access by erroneously attempting to enter their password several times. I have turned MWI to "none" on the shared line appearance on th admin assistant's phone, and that causes the light not to light but the blinking envelope still remains. Still, if they press their messages button, even though their lamp is not on (let's say to access their email admin) it seizes the line with a message on it, dials into Unity, and Unity thinks that is the mailbox to which they wish to connect(in this case, not theirs). Can I stop this from happening or do I have to educate these users about this non-fixable issue. It would be much easier to fix it somehow in CM...

Under system parameters select call manager service and change the "Always Use Prime Line for Voice Message" to true. This is a system wide parameter so it will affect all users but that should not be an issue. I always change it to true as it creates the confusion you are running into otherwise.
