Hi

Got my local XP workstation inside my works domain, logging in with a local user.

All my local driver are being shared as Admin Shares (c$ etc) so that any Domain Admin (which I am) can access my drives. Which I dont want.

I can turn off the Server Service to stop this, but then I cant share any folders with permissions etc. So how can i keep my server services but stop these admin shares from being available to the outside world?

In NT and Windows 2000 you could edit registry :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

Double click AutoShareServer and set to 0 to disable this for a server
Double click AutoShareWks and set to 0 to disable this for a workstation

If the entry is not present yet, add a value of type reg_dword value

I don't know if this still works on XP so don't blame me if your XP dies... ---------------------------------------------------------------------
I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work
